About the Aquadillos

The Aquadillos summer swim team provides a wonderful opportunity for children to experience competitive swimming in a fun enviroment.

How to get Help

If you need help of any sort, you can contact anyone on our contact page. If it is during practice, the Board members usually sit near the front of the pool. The 2011 Dillos Handbook and this website have a lot of useful information as well.

The First Practices

Please note that parents are not allowed on the pool deck during practice. Some children get distracted, so please observe this courtesy.

What to Bring

Swimmers should arrive in their swimsuit. Please bring a towel, goggles, clothes for stretching and dryland. Gym shoes might be used for dryland, so have them available.

Water bottles, swimmers ear drops, and sunscreen are suggested as well.

Any item the swimmer brings needs to be clearly marked with the swimmer's name.

What to Expect

The very first practice is relaxed. The swimmers will stretch and be introduced to each other and their coaches. They will probably do some dryland (land exercises) and may or may not get in the water. Due to water temeratures, swimmers may not swim the whole practice time.

The first few practices, and first couple of weeks, the coaches will still be sorting kids based on ablility. Lane assignments often change during the season so please be patient.

If you have a new swimmer, he/she will be evaluated near the end of the second week.

To help prevent swimmer's ear, make sure your swimmer uses ear drops after practice.

The First Meet

How (not) to Sign Up

You do not need to sign up for a meet. Your child is automatically entered for every meet unless you let us know otherwise. This means it is up to you to let us know if your swimmer cannot make a meet.

Can't make a meet?

Email us swimmer names and ages for the meet you cannot attend. The last day to do so is Saturday one week before the meet.

This is important so we have an accurate list of swimmers that can attend a given meet and the parents available to volunteer.

Meet Information

All meet information will be posted on the meets page. Complete meet information (including heat sheet and volunteer list) will be available by sometime Friday. A tweet will be sent out when it is posted.

What to Bring

Swimsuit, googles, swim cap, several towels, sunscreen, clothes to wear over a suit, chair or something to sit on, cold drinks, snacks, games,...

Make sure all items are clearly marked with a name.

Parents should bring, chairs, hat, sunscreen, drinks and snacks, patience,....

Bring a sharpie to write the events on a child as per the pit parent guide.

Experienced parents, help fill in this section. Send us what should be here.

What to Expect

Arrive early. If your child does not get checked-in at his/her pit before the check-in time, the child will be removed from their relay. This can cause a relay to be canceled, not allowing other swimmers to swim a relay.

There will be a concession stand available.

Experienced parents, help fill in this section. Send us what should be here.

Bad Weather

If there is thunder, we cannot be in the water until a period of time has passed after it has stopped.

If this happens during practice, we will send out a tweet on our Twitter account.

If we know practice will be canceled, we will send out a tweet. If possible, we will post on our website as well.

If there seems like there will be bad weather the day of a meet, you still need to go to the meet. The only exception is if you get a message that the meet has been canceled.
